Departed from Pungol Jetty and arrived at Campsite 2 on a bumboat..
with fun people ami and jo!
so we got settled down (there was no bunks, just tents..its a mobile camp!) and played a few games.. there was trust fall, which obviously was us falling on our back onto this mat while trusting that it will be securely held tight by the others! And Jon made us do reflection after every game, haha it wasnt so bad actually.
Afterward we had to do food rationing before we had our lunch (WAS STARVING). There were biscuits and bread and small little dry snacks, and maggie mee and packets of rice..so we all split up and tried to sort them out, organise everything and stuff. Had bread and biscuits for lunch! and it wasnt as bad as it sounds again. haha.
Didnt do much the first day just a few low elements stuff involving harness and ropes and teamwork. I wanted to do the flying fox but didnt get the chance so that was a little disappointing.. I vented my frustration into killing ants! (hahaha dont I sound like a freak) cause during dinner we were helping to cook rice and there were a trail of freaking disgusting stupid ants that were dangerously close to our feet and our tins. SO I WHIPPED OUT MY INSECT REPELLENT AND SPRAYED THEM. oh the sastifaction of seeing them run frantically in all directions and disappeared from our sight. hahaha my teammate thanked me okay! so anyway, dinner was simple, with sausages, sardine, peanuts and rice, plus campbell soup! haha pretty filling!
setting up our tents!
sorting out the food for breakfast, lunch and dinner for the following four days. we had quite a long discussion on this one. :)
everyone's breakfast for tomorrow's morning. bread, biscuits, milo/ovaltine powder (very addictive) and energy bars!
DAY TWO
Had a little practice on kayaking before the actual activity on day three. I paired with Edison who happens to be in chinese dance (we totally worship him for it because he has amazing stamina and flexibility) for his cca and thus TADAH! I HAVE AN AWESOME KAYAK PARTNER! :D
haha okay anyway! it was my very first time kayaking and with the help of the instructors, we did capsizing and rowing around in the sea before getting washed up to have lunch! After setting up our tents we had a little walk in the resevoir and reached this area where there were logs connected from one end to another. We were split into two groups each at one end and with one stretcher to each group, we were supposed to bring the stretcher across the other end using the ropes and harness! and so if we were to drop the stretcher we had to start over again. the amazing thing is that my group didnt even drop it once and we complete the challenge within the time limit! HAHAHAHA woohoo! but I strongly suspect( not being sexist here) the main reason was because we had the majority of guys in our group. they were doing these things to the harness and ropes just to lift the harness over that I (and the girls in my group) seriously have no clue about. So our task was quite easy actually, just had to balance well on the logs and not fall. LOL!
Played our last activity using blindfolds before having our dinner..then we had a briefing session about the sea expedition tmr, where we were supposed to kayak to camp 2 for an approximation of 5 hours or more around the island! woohoo!
DAY THREE
Sea expedition day! Had breakfast, went offshore! Saw wild boars on some beach, eagles, iguana..and dolphins(okay fine i wish)along the way! Had a few breaks every hour for eating, urinating and shitting (yup I heard there were some going on?). hahaha. anyway, we tried to play the game of concentration while pedalling but turns out pretty confusing so we gave up. haha. then we had this brilliant idea of smacking sunblock on our faces and calling ourselves the sunblock club or something I forgot but im sure edison will rmb because he was pretty happy playing with it and asking others to join the club. hahahahaha. yes we were quite bored! and hey, clara and cherie joined in too! :)
when we were finally reaching our destination I was struck with severe sea-sickness that i couldnt even had the energy to pedal much and I really felt like sleeping..but i tried my best because i felt really bad if I did not help edison(many times he asked me to shut my eyes and rest while he pedal but I refused) and this is the advantage of having a partner who learns chinese dance because he sure can pedal! hahahaha okay la.. thanks alot anyway ed! :)
Cause the toilets are a 5mins walk around from our campsite and the water's a digusting light brown, we all didnt bathe. Had a powder bath, changed into a fresh clothes and slacked allll the way till dinner (was mentally and physically exhausted) Seeing it was going to rain, Jon taught us how to set up a BASHA using rocks, cotton twine and poncho where we can rest under to cook our dinner. We cooked delicious maggie mee for everyone packed with lotsa can food...yummy! It was getting dark after dinner and we had our nightwalk, was really tempted seeing stalls selling cold drinks and everyone made exaggerations when they saw a TV like how much they miss air-con,stuff like that.. but we all knew that we dont really mean it(okay maybe a little). haha. Afterwards. Reflection time. Sleeping time. Central duty time! Stayed up to chit-chat and gossip a little. ;)
DAY FOUR
excuse the disheveled hair, I'm not exactly a morning person.
Trekking day!
So...we had a map, and we had to find our way through four stations and get back to camp 1! Oh and ya, did I mention we had to carry this HUGE HEAVY GIGANTIC BACKPACK all the way too? I felt my back breaking 5 minutes after i GRUDGINGLY tossed it over my back. Seriously. As if it didnt suck enough, we had to carry two filled bottles of our drink tins. I dont really mind the drink tins, but I feel that letting us trek long-distance for over 5 hours is already a strong test of determination enough, I dont see the need for these backpacks that weigh a ton!!!!!! I am not kidding when i say for all 5++ hours trekking, I didnt stand up straight once. except on the occasional breaks where I can put the backpack down. T.O.R.T.U.R.E.
